The workso far

Every site here is live. Scroll one in the frame, then go and use the real thing — we would rather you checked than took our word for it.

01Workshops / Brisbane

Plants in a Ute

Plants in a Ute rescues abandoned plants and pallet timber, then runs hands-on workshops where you build a pot, pot a rescue plant, and take both home.

A garden-centre template would have flattened all of that into stock photos and a booking button. So the site leads with the ute, the timber and the dirt — the actual things people turn up for — and treats the workshop calendar as the main event rather than a buried form.

The story page carries its own weight too: the business started as a project between a father and son, and that sits on the site as told, not as an About-us paragraph.

02Hair salon / Brisbane CBD

HairZoom

HairZoom has been in Anzac Square Arcade since 2001 — senior stylists, a Goldwell Platinum salon, the kind of place people follow from suburb to suburb. The site they had was about a decade old, and looked it.

Salon sites usually bury the two things people actually came for. This one leads with them: the full price list sits in the open, women's and men's split by tab, and the colour work runs as a gallery rather than a stock-photo carousel.

The palette does the positioning. Near-black and gold means every photograph of hair on the page reads as the brightest thing in the room, which is exactly the right hierarchy for a colourist.
